Masala Cookbook!

For 20 years, I resisted writing a cookbook. There are too many cookbooks…nobody really wants to cook Indian food plus there are so many out there. I do not want to put out a dust collector! Well…that slowly changed. After teaching cooking classes at Indika and Pondicheri for over 15 years and into my third year of writing a recipe column for the Houston Chronicle, I am understanding what people want to cook and that they do want to learn how to use spices. So, I am thrilled to announce that my first book, Masala, is ready for pre-orders! You will not receive your copy until August, but I promise you, it will be worth the wait. The book is an expansion of how I cook and an attempt at decoding how I instinctually use spices from morning to night.  I wish for Masala to serve as a timeless handbook of the food of India through my eyes. While being notoriously undocumented, fiercely regional, and deeply personal, many of the tenets of Indian cooking are rooted in Ayurveda, the 5000-year-old doctrine of how to live a life of balance by using our senses and our relationship to self and the planet. You will learn how to incorporate Ayurveda into your daily life, how to make dal, stews, dosas and curries, cookies, and cakes with stories and stories galore! Pre-order here!
